How IEDRI is funded

We are not asking for donations. Registration as a 501(c)(3) is still in progress, and until it completes we are not set up to accept gifts or to acknowledge them properly. This page explains how the institute intends to pay for itself.

Where funding will come from

Consulting and training

Paid work with organizations is the first source of income, and the one that is available now. It subsidizes the research and the press.

Grants

Project funding for specific studies and design prototypes, from foundations and research funders working on disability, culture, or the built environment.

Program sponsorship

Organizations underwriting a seminar series, a conference, or a press volume, on terms that do not give them a say over findings.

Individual support

Once registration completes, membership and individual giving will carry the part of the work that nothing else covers.

If you fund this kind of work

We would like to talk to prospective sponsors while the first studies are still being scoped, when the conversation can still change what gets funded. The same goes for organizations considering underwriting a program.
